13. XO

13. XO

I comb the crowd and pick you out
My mouth moves too fast for you to figure it out
It starts eyes closed to fingers crossed
"To I swear, I say"
"To I swear, I say"

Fall Out Boy was awesome. I thought the 2nd concert would be less amazing than the 1st. The 2nd Ok Go was a bit disappointing after the 1st, we've had seen it all before sorta. But Fall Out Boy didnt disappoint. Listening to (their) music on your pc or stereothingy in your room is something completely different from hearing it life, with an amount of decibel that just can't be right for your ears ^^.

At their first concert, even though I didn't even know who Dirty was or what Clandestine Industries was, I had a sort of fixed image or idea how the concert was going to be. The craziest thing was that it actually came true. Hurley doing the drumstick trick @ Sugar were going down, Wentz hanging upside down @ Saturday, and several more things like that.
This time , 2nd concert, I had ofcourse an idea what to expect, I had seen it before. Yet there wasn't a fixed image like the last time, this time it was just a sort of recognition of what they were doing. But it was still all there, and they rocked again.

They started with Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued again. Great song to start with (well they actually started with the Kanye West remix of This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race, but they didn't play that life). The 2nd song was a Take This To Your Grave track again. Not Homesick At Spacecamp, but The Patron Saint Of Liars And Fakes this time. They played songs from TTTYG, FUTC, en IOH. They played only about 5 Infinity on High songs, not even Carpal Tunnel Of Love or Hum Hallelujah. This time they played XO, which was awesome. Too bad they didn't play The Music Or The Misery as well.
Ofcourse Wentz was doing the talking. Their favourite swearword is apparently GODDAMN. Patrick played "Closing the Goddamn door" (only that line), and Pete told everyone to say goddamn. When he did that, he was looking up and a though occurred to me. If Wentz is going to get struck by lightning anytime soon, it's kinda like "you asked for it".

Shit I loved they did + I expected them to do:
  • Hurley doing the drumstick trick during Sugar Were Going Down
  • Wentz spinning around
  • Trohmania jumping and flinging his guitar around
  • Stump wearing a (baseball) cap
  • Dirty Dancing / Dirty Dance Dancing
  • Korean Tom Cruise guy catching the bass Wentz threw into the air, so he could play the last part of Saturday when Pete had to go singing/screaming (or at least I think it was him)

There was more stuff like that, knowing every song, Frohman having his hair like that, Wentz walking in a hoody/sweater thing (idiot, it was fokking warm), etc etc . Too bad Pete could hang upside down during saturday, there was nothing to climb on/hang upside down on ×_×

I want to see the Max (the Melkweg, Amsterdam). It's over a year that I've been there, though I've seen the Oude Zaal a bizillion times. I must say I like the 013 -zaal. It was big, and had a sort of slope in it. Besides I like the name ("buttocksbuttocks" for eveyone who gets that ;P). We played Hearts on the train to Tilburg. It was funny, I was the first tot get 101 points, while the others didn't even make the 50 points (for every one who doesn't know the game, this means I lost big time). But hey, it was the first time I played the game. Besides I introduced the term "boompje 2" (2 of clubs) and established the use of the name "the evil card" for the Queen of Spades (Sasha came up with that name, I used it cause I got the "Evil Card" almost every game =/).
There were some guys from our school @ the concert as well. During the support act Nailpin (who werent as pop-ish as I thought they would be, they were quite good actually) I looked down at the crowd ( we were on the balcony during the support act and went down to the floor during the recess thingy). The moshpit was made out of the guys from our school+some other random emo's/ moshers. I think they (the guys from our school) actually started the mosh, cause when I looked down before they were there, the moshpit wasn't very active at all.
Also when I looked over at the crowd/moshpit during FOB playing (we were near the stage/speakers on the side/moshpit) I saw a guy crowdsurfing passing us nearby. It was so funny to see it was one of my classmates XD.

We discussed other concerts/bands afterwards. I must say, though Green Day opened up the world of rockmusic and concerts for me, Fall Out Boy is my favourite band. Their 2 concerts were best so far. Here is the list so far:

2005

  • Green Day, Jimmy Eat World - I had no clue what music was, too bad.

2006

  • Fall Out Boy, My Sister Harold - I <3>
  • Panic! At The Disco, Clueless - I almost liked the support act better. No wait I did like the support act better.
  • Haags Onbekend Talent Festival - hey it was for free :P
  • Parkpop '06 - Seen the Kooks there. Brilliant, in the rain. For free as well.
  • Motion City Soundtrack, Ok Go, The Hard Lessons - Great that they traveled with 3 (american) bands.
  • My Chemical Romance, Skip The Rush - Friday 13th, in an old church, MCR. Awesome no? Less awesome was that they played loads of songs of their new album which no one had heard before.
  • Disco Ensemble, San Andreas - 3 man moshpit! XD. one of the worst support acts.

2007

  • Ok Go, The Girls - Seen Ok Go before, still great show but nothing new/exciting. Support act was great though, wish I'd bought their CD.
  • Fall Out Boy, Nailpin - <3>
We missed The Killers (several times), We Are Scientists, Lost Prophets, Artic Monkeys and some more great bands. But there are still concerts comming up. You know what would be great? If The Academy Is..., The Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, Cobra Starship & October Fall did a Fueled By Ramen Tour through Europe. Or if Bowling for Soup would finally come to NL ×_×. But I shouldn't complain. At least great bands come to NL, it's not as if I live in let's say Israel or something =P.
I ordered SANTI btw. I want the newest Lost Prophets CD as well, Liberation Transmission. I love Can't Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won't Save You This Time). Oh well.

I think this post is long enough now. Goin to listen to some music, watch some MCR vids (found an old one with vampires? =S + newest one with very emo Gerard Way), make some drawings maybe. Anyway, this is it for today.
Love,
La SpaceMonkey

ps. I can't help it's mostly pete wentz pictures, I didn't make the photo's...
The first 7 pictures are from their concert on 4 feb last year in the Melkweg. I accidentally uploaded in reversed order.

Make that free hot chocolate and tapas.

HMUN was fun. Didn't mind being alone at all. Actually liked it better I think :O

Two weeks? Geef me gvd die cd! Ik ken geen lyrics! It's a disaster!

What's up with the "<3>"? I don't understand why the '>' is there..?

Funny thing about this post is that, reading it, I don't feel any jealousy or envy towards you. Weird. I don't even really feel like I've missed something. It's weird, but in a way I prefer it this way.

the > is a html fout. Not goin to try and remove it, the site has enough trouble uploading the photo's. The 2nd 13. XO isn't supposed to be there either.

You didn't really miss anything except klasgenoten, new songs, us jumping around like crazy (I almost fell down cause there was bier ofzo op de grond) and a great avond.

Oh, I got half a glass of beer (or cola, not sure) over me. 5 min later was het weer droog, twas daar so warm XD
